Here are the specific results of the vote on the two SMART Bylaw
change proposals completed at the Special Membership meeting at
the South Central Regional Muster.  The vote required 2/3 (66.67%)
of the votes cast to pass.

1.  SMART Official Name Acronym change: from Special Military
Active Retired Travel to
Special Military Active Recreational
Travelers.
This change better reflects our membership makeup and overcomes
the indication that we are only Active and Retired military RVers.

For
Name Change: 248 votes were cast , 2/3(66.67%) is 165.
Votes FOR: 191 votes AGAINST: 57; 77% in favor --
PASSED

Actions: Name change ...all chapters & members are encouraged to
continue use of existing patches, flags, etc and to consider
replacement only on an as needed/wear & tear basis.  The only thing
that will change on the SMART logo is the small print.  HQ will send
out electronic versions of the new logo and tell all chapters

2.
Membership category changes from Regular and Associate to
Veteran and Non-veteran Family members

1. Better reflect our actual membership

2. Reduce any negative connotation in the status names

3. Give all of our veterans: active/retired/honorably discharged the
same rights and organizational privileges--all our veterans are
eligible to hold all offices, including National officers; Non-veteran
family members are recognized as fully participating SMART
members with the eligibility to hold all offices up to and including
Region Director

For 2 Categories of Members, Veteran & Non-Veteran Family: 257
Votes cast, 2/3 (66.67%) is 171,  Votes FOR: 224, Votes AGAINST:
33; 87% in favor --
PASSED

Actions:  HQ will publish new Bylaws and Standing Rules that reflect
the votes, soonest.  The name change will take some time to
accomplish all legal requirements and HQ will pass onto the
chapters any requirements.  HQ will publish new applications, forms,
and publications with the new logo.
