                                     Capital Beltway Camper’s Chapter

More commonly known as “CBC” this small chapter of SMART with a lot of heart and spirit!
Headquartered in the Washington DC area we typically camp in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Northern
Virginia within 100 miles of the Capital Beltway, hence our name, Capital Beltway Campers.  We are a
diverse group with members from all branches of service. Typically we muster on the 2d weekend of the
month from April through November winding up with a Christmas brunch at one of the base clubs in
December.  We frequently utilize the FamCamps as well as civilian campgrounds in the area. At least
twice a year we hold a fun filled auction to raise money to support Fisher House.  A typical muster starts
with members arriving on Friday afternoon to coffee and soup provided by the host. It's a time to greet
old friends and catch up on what's been happening in everybody's family since the last muster. Saturday
morning usually brings a pancake breakfast followed by a day of games, site seeing, shopping and other
fun things.  We try to gather late in the afternoon for some attitude adjustment and then a pot-luck dinner.
Saturday evening will find us all gathered around the camp fire swapping stories and there's always the
exciting game of SYN.  Sunday morning awakens to the smell of fresh coffee, orange juice and sweet
roles. Then it's time to break camp and head for home until the next time we meet. CBC is ideally located
for the active duty and retired campers living in the DC area who wants to get away for a weekend of
camping and outdoor activities, but don't care to travel long distances. We invite all SMART members in
the DC area to come muster with us.  You don't have to be a member of CBC to try us out.  If you like us
(and we know you will) we invite you to join our chapter.
                                                  Empire SMART Chapter

The members come from many areas of New York State and Canada. There are several members who live within
an hours drive from Pulaski.  That is where our members camp at a private clubhouse with electric hookups for
RVs. Most of our activities take place there.  We enjoy getting together at our musters several times during the
summer and fall months (see muster calendar page). We play games, cards, etc., have a bonfire at night that
includes tall tales and occasionally singing, do a lot of eating, often family style, and have been known to take day
trips such as the St. Lawrence River Cruise at the Thousand Islands, Salmon River Falls and the shores of Lake
Ontario for picnics.  We have a Halloween Party in October (costumes and all), which is usually our last
get-together of the season.  Because we do have cold and snowy winters, many of the members leave in the fall
for warmer areas.  There is little activity from the group during the winter months.  The few members who do not
go south meet every few weeks at near by restaurants for lunch.  We invite anyone interested in joining our
chapter or any other SMART members to stop by and visit us.
