Greetings from the newly chartered “SMART Traveling Squares”, the latest addition to the At-Large
Region.  While at the National Muster in Centre Hall, PA, Skip Cottrell noticed my Shrine emblem on the
front of the rig and asked me about forming a Masonic Chapter within SMART. Skip asked those in
attendance if they would be interested in forming a Chapter and when they agreed the task of forming a
new chapter was started.  After many e-mails and phone calls we finely submitted the paperwork to be
chartered.  Since the Spring Board of Directors meeting was cancelled, the Executive Committee decided
to use the electronic media to review and approve the formation of the Chapter.  We do appreciate the
efforts of each member of the BOD for this achievement.  Who says that you can’t teach old dogs new
tricks?  THANK YOU. Currently we have 8 members and are open to all Master Masons and Ladies with
Masonic affiliation, (i.e. O.E.S., Daughters of the Nile, White Shrine, etc.) to join.  We’ll hold our first official
meeting at the National Muster in Shawnee, OK with election of Officers being the first call of business.
Our current Pro-tem officers are:
President                 John Farrell                479-855-4778                smartrnr@cox.net

If you would like to be a charter member of the SMART Traveling Squares, you have until May 1, 2011 to
get your application into the Secretary.  If you have questions or would like an application, please contact
any of the officers above.  Safe travels and hope to see to see you down the road.

The SMART FULLTIMER chapter is an at-large chapter for SMART members who live full-time in an RV.
FULLTIMERs have no house they "go back to" at some point during the year. Some may have a home-base in the
way of an RV port somewhere while others may have no home-base at all -- some may travel to only a couple of
locations during the year while others may rarely or never visit the same place twice. Members of the
FULLTIMER
chapter may also be members of other at-large chapters, or of local chapters around the country. The common
factor among
FULLTIMER chapter members is that their RV is their only home.

The focus of the
FULLTIMER Chapter is on fellowship rather than on structure. Chapter meetings are held just
before and during the annual SMART National Muster. That is when we are able to have the most
FULLTIMERs in
the same location at one time, and by arriving for a pre-muster before the National Muster, we are more likely to be
able to park near one another to facilitate our chapter fellowship. We encourage members to publicize their travel
plans in the
FULLTIMER Chapter quarterly newsletter, and to take advantage of every opportunity to meet with
other
FULLTIMERs throughout the year wherever they may be. These mini-musters are great opportunities for
fellowship among small groups of
FULLTIMER Chapter members. SMART members may be associate members of
the
FULLTIMERs if they do not currently reside 100% of the time in an RV, but have done so in the past or are
interested in doing so in the future.

If YOU are a SMART member who is living in an RV 100% of the time, we invite you to join our fellowship in the
SMART
FULLTIMER Chapter!
The AT-Large Region is the largest and most diverse
region of all of the Regions of SMART.  It is made up of
seven Chapters designed by purpose rather than location.
The largest chapter is the
Fulltimers who are composed of
SMART members who have no house and live full time in a
Recreational Vehicle (RV).  The next chapter by size is the
Nomads.  They may have a house but they live in their RV
at least 6 months of the year.  The
Computer Users are
those who want to learn more about using computers on the
road.  The
Duffers are our golfers from all of the regions.
It is their responsibility to hold a tournament at each
National Muster.  The
Solos are those members who are
single, either unmarried or have lost their  spouses.  Our
newest chapter is the
Traveling Squares. These members
have Masonic Affiliation.  Lastly, our
STAR chapter is
composed of our best SMART Recruiters.  As you can see,
an At-Large chapter can be started with any group of five
members with a common interest.  Let us know what kind of
chapter you would like to see.

SMART Duffers Chapter was formed to provide a social/travel chapter for the exclusive use and enjoyment of all
SMART National members interested in golf.  The chapter duties include assisting the National Muster Master in
setting up and running a golf tournament when requested.
The S*T*A*R Chapter (SMART TOPS AT RECRUUITING) is a unique Chapter as it is the only one which requires a
pre-requisite to be eligible for membership.  The Chapter is open to all SMART members who have recruited at
least 5 members.  Upon verification by HDQS that the 5th member has been recruited, an invitation to join the
S*T*A*R Chapter is forthcoming.  Achieving that 5th recruitment also earns the individual one year prepaid
National dues.  Happy & successful Recruiting!  Jay R. Maust; # 6100; Pres. S*T*A*R Chapter
